In the heart of the enchanting rolling meadows, dwelt a boy named Shepherd. His life was mostly pure, and unsophisticated. His main role was essentially to look after his herd of sheep.

Their low murmuring and the rustling of the wind among the solo tree on the peak were his main co-dwellers. Day upon day, watching over his responsibilities instilled in him a sense of tranquil contentment.

Yet, there were occasional moments of solitude, when the shepherd boy would pine for fellowship. On one such day from sheer boredom, the shepherd boy conceived a troublesome plan.

Stories of wild beasts hunting on sheep had been heard times and again in the village. So, the boy decided to used this fear and played a trick on the townsfolk.

One afternoon he ran into the village yelling “Wolf! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!” The scared villagers sprinted up the hills for rescue but discovered no beast.

The boy laughed at the puzzle on their faces. This trick continued for a few more days. Yet, one noon, a real wolf did attack the herd. The shepherd boy ran for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed here up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his sheep. Devastated, he went back to the town only to be met with a lesson on honesty and the consequences of crying wolf.

His tale of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the dangers of crying wolf. Moreover, it emphasizes how trust once lost, is tough to earn back. It's a story as pertinent today as it was in the past.
